Biography

JESUS COMPLEX is the electro-industrial project of Damon Fries (The Rev), guitarist in BOUDOIR and live soundman of pioneering electronic group CLAN OF XYMOX . Originally from San Francisco, Damon moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1998

JESUS COMPLEX is heavy, dark, haunting, angry, vindictive electronic music. Inspired by horror, heartbreak, death, despair and revenge. The first album, "I WOKE UP DEAD", is a collection of 10 sinister anthems for dark, moody, pessimistic souls, a toxic blend of heavy dancefloor darkness, distorted, tortured vocals and haunting, gothic atmospheres. The album was released in March, 2003 via Ronny Moorings (Clan of Xymox)'s Stichting Xymox Control label. Ronny, in fact, can be heard as guest vocalist on the track, "Lost In Sleep" and played keyboards for the live shows before relocating abroad. In May 2003, after 2 weeks as a "bullet", the album entered the DAC Deutsches Alternative Charts and remained for several weeks.

The follow-up album, "GREETINGS FROM THE DEAD" was released in April 2007, but after a few shows, the project took a break while Damon worked on some other projects, including ethereal/shoegaze group BOUDOIR.

In 2011, JESUS COMPLEX joined Brazilian band Pecadores ("Sinners") for a tour of Germany as "Guitar Priest" for their showsIn 2016. JESUS COMPLEX finally returned to the stage again in Lima, Peru in 2016, performing with Pecadores again, and doing guest vocals with Decoded Feedback. The return to stage and fantastic response inspired JC to perform live again, and release a 3rd album, "Live A Little, Die A Little" on Insane Records, followed by touring in Europe and South America and a fourth album, "Welcome To My Nightmare" in 2019.

JC has toured with groups such as Clan Of Xymox, Das Ich, and Decoded Feedback - and played with groups such as VNV Nation,Diary Of Dreams, Suicide Commando, Mesh and more at festivals and venues all over.
